Excused and Missing Assignments

Engrade allows two letter grades in the Gradebook: "E" for excused and "M" for missing. Any other letter grades entered into the Gradebook will calculate at "0%."

Excused Assignment

If a student was absent or otherwise excused from turning in an assignment, you can enter "E" for that student's score on the assignment. "E" refers to "Excused," which means that Engrade will ignore that assignment when calculating the student's grade. "E" functions in the same way as a blank space in the Gradebook. If the student turns in the assignment at a later date, you can replace the "E" with a numeric score and Engrade will re-calculate the student's overall grade accordingly.

Missing Assignment

If a student did not turn in an assignment and you wish to note that it is missing, you can enter "M" for that student's score on the assignment. An "M" will count as a zero for that assignment and will appear as "Missing" on the student reports. If the student turns in the assignment at a later date, you can replace the "M" with a numeric score and Engrade will re-calculate the student's overall grade accordingly.
